Sewn Lip Psalm
(2023, digital generative videoart with sound, captured in 1080p, 5 min 37 secs)
The anxious flight through computer generated dunes under an analog sky. The liminal space of Pliskin's anxious dream about the future, captured in a moving video fabric.
The classic technique of early 3D graphics intersects with video feedbacks beneath a hypnotic synthesiser mass.
'we all have our dream spaces, sometimes there are good dreams in there, dreams that bring peace and calm the soul
sometimes dreams becoming corrupted, pervert and hard to stand
i dream of empty spaces, of transgression and liquid light
i dream of endless isolation, of extreme solitude, i dream of the nightmare that has no end'
“For this work, the collaborative aspect was important to me. My co-author here is not simply performing the technical task of a composer but rather providing a sonic sensory field that needs to be finely tuned with my own field of sensory emotions. Ideally — I dreamed about making it with a person from a different country, and was quite glad that exactly happened” - Pliskin
Music — Reike Stille
Concept, generative video — Dmitry Pliskin
Original explication:
Our collaboration was based on the theme of exodus/exile, displacement and dismemberment. As such all hope might be just a mirage to keep trudging through the sand.
